OverBox presents Who's Jimmy (demo CD - 2006)
01.
The
Real Me
|
In
this track Raffaella is the lead vocalist, while I just do some backing
vocals and "disturb" the ensemble with the tambourine.
|
This
time the voices have reversed the roles.

03.
I'm
One
|
A
song that OverTime played many times, before
coming to this project; here comes to action the violin of Raffaella,
and with the brilliant piano by Claudio we reach our desired goal. We
did want to do a version without that passage of the original version
(between first and second verse) which transform it from a vaguely country
ballad to a definitely rock track, for trying to create an atmosphere
more suffering and less angry but still full of energy.

The
Dirty Jobs
|
One
of my favorites; if I had to choose ONE single track to give an idea of
the sound of the group, I will surely take this one.
|
At
the beginning it was not planned for recording, but at the end we decided
to include it anyway, even if it's not a perfect version.

Doctor
Jimmy
|
Of
the songs recorded for this demo CD, it's the most heavily rearranged
one: more or less from 8 to 5 minutes of length! However, it seems to
me that nothing is missing...
|
A
recording that's not really high fidelity, but it couldn't be ignored!
Raffaella explains us what does she means with SINGING, with all capitals.
Compare it with the final studio version (see below) to discover how her interpretation of the song has evolved.

OverBox presents More of Who's Jimmy (demo CD - 2007)
01. I've Had Enough |
In
this track we did a significant rhythmic arrangement of one of its several segments; I hope you'll enjoy it as much as us do. |
02. The Seeker |
This
was a single for The Who, not part of "Quadrophenia"; recently they reinserted in their live shows, but our decision to do it came before that. Our version features a rock organ solo by Claudio Tarantola, and a violin solo by... guess who? |
03. Bargain |
This comes from one of the best rock album of all times, "Who's Next"; it's a song that I always wanted to sing (and record), exactly like the next one. Note our "fattened" arrangement with assorted guitars, synth and violin. |
04. Sea And Sand |
Another
of my favorites; a song that I loved since I bought the original double LP of "Quadrophenia". This is a demanding track for my voice, but I love it so much that I don't care suffering a bit more than usual when singing it! Also, a lower transpose would not produce the same energy. I sing all vocal parts, unlike the original version which is shared by the voices of Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. |
There's me as well, but on keyboards. For the rest, well... the interpretation of Raffaella speaks by itself. |
